Family Day is the perfect opportunity to reconnect with your student and explore the campus that is your student's home away from home. Parents, siblings, and relatives are invited to spend a day at SJC and take part in the many activities available.

Start your Family Day experience by picking up your official button, which serves as your paid ticket to all the day’s events, and additional information about the day.

10:00 am-1:00 pm | Family Brunch

Weekend brunch is one of the most popular meals among students. Don’t miss your chance to experience made-to-order omelettes and pierogies, breakfast buffet, pizza bar, and more.

10:00 am-5:00 pm | College Store Open

12:00 pm | Puma Football vs. McKendree University
Alumni Stadium
The football team won’t be the only source of excitement on the field. The 2013 halftime show features performances by the dance team, marching band, and color guard.

2:00 pm | Puma Women’s Tea
Halleck Student Center, Jazzman's Cafe and Bakery
Our Puma Women’s organization is sponsoring an afternoon tea with Assoc. Prof. of English April Toadvine, PhD who will share some great information about the history of tea and its traditions. Limited seating.

4:00 pm | Alpha Lambda Delta Induction Ceremony
Core Education Center, Shen Auditorium
Alpha Lambda Delta is a nationally recognized honor society that awards lifetime membership to students who excelled in their first year of college. Sophomores who have a GPA of 3.5 or higher qualify for this honor.

4:00-5:00 pm pm | "Maggots That Solve Murders”
Core Education Center, Courtney Auditorium
Dr. Neal Haskell is a leader in the field of Forensic Entomology.  
Join him for a one hour presentation that explains the fascinating work he does using insects to solve murders.

4:45-6:30 pm | Family Dinner Buffet
Halleck Student Center Cafeteria
A special dinner will be served for students and families.

6:00 pm | Preseason Basketball Game

7:30 pm | Columbian Players present "Laura”
Evans Arts and Science Building Theatre
Based on the detective novel by Vera Caspary that was adapted into a popular film in 1944.

9:00 pm | Sock Hop and Rootbeer Floats
Halleck Student Center Ballroom
Close the day with a jump, jive, and wail sock hop in the Ballroom.  Ice cream floats and other desserts will be served.  Younger siblings are invited to stay overnight in the residence halls with their student. 

Siblings of students are invited to stay overnight in the residence hall.

One registration fee grants admission to all meals and events listed above. Only $15 for adults and $8 for children age 8 and under.
