Wille, Cravens Named Academic All-District

Saint Joseph's College baseball players Matt Wille (Sr., Crystal Lake, IL/McHenry County CC) and Blaine Cravens (RSr., Buffalo, IL/Licoln Land CC) have been honored with selections to the 2008 ESPN The Magazine College Division Academic All-District 5 Teams, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

The College Division consists of all NCAA Division II and Division III institutions, as well as NAIA institutions. District 5 includes the states of Indiana, Illinois, Minnesota, and Wisconsin, as well as the Canadian provinces of Ontario and Manitoba.

Wille, who has a 3.33 grade-point average in International Business, was one of three outfielders named to the All-District Second Team. Wille is currently batting a team-high .385 with 18 doubles, five home runs, 53 runs batted in, and 20 stolen bases. He is tied for the Great Lakes Valley Conference lead in sacrifice flies (7). He was also named to the All-GLVC First Team.

Cravens, with a 3.20 GPA in Business Administration, was one of two pitchers named to the All-District Third Team. He has posted a record of 8-2 on the mound this season with a league-low 2.00 earned-run average. Cravens was named to the All-GLVC First Team and was selected the GLVC's Pitcher of the Year.

SJC opens play in the NCAA Division II North Central Regional Tournament on Thursday.
