Blaine Cravens continues to see the postseason accolades pour in.
Saint Joseph's College baseball player Blaine Cravens (RSr., Buffalo, IL/Lincoln Land CC) has been honored with a selection to the 2008 Daktronics, Inc., NCAA Division II All-America Third Team, as voted on by sports information directors at Division II institutions throughout the nation. He was one of four starting pitchers named to the Third Team.
Cravens was a First Team All-Great Lakes Valley Conference selection, as well as the GLVC's Pitcher of the Year. He was also named the Daktronics, Inc., North Central Region Pitcher of the Year, which accompanied a First Team All-Region selection. He finished the 2008 season with an overall record of 8-4, with an earned-run average of 2.57. He struck out 57 batters in 77 innings.
Cravens was particularly dominant in GLVC competition this season, going 6-1 with a 1.22 ERA in eight starts. He is the first SJC baseball All-American since Mike Stitz in 2005.
SJC finished the season with an overall record of 46-18, which included an appearance in the GLVC Championship game and a berth in the NCAA Division II North Central Regional Tournament.
